Owning/Managing Organization: Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO)
Program Description: The APCO partners with public safety agencies to deliver training courses that meet the needs of a particular community. Agencies can register to co-host an APCO course by promoting the class, providing a classroom and accommodating to students' needs. Agencies can co-host any APCO class. Training disciplines include:
-Public Safety Telecommunicator
-Emergency Medical Dispatch
-Fire Service Communications
-Law Enforcement Communications
-Leadership & Supervision
-Communications Training Officer
APCO also offers recertification courses and specialized, call-specific classes that allow workers to earn Continuing Dispatch Education credits. Agencies receive one complimentary registration for each class they host. In addition, participating agencies who schedule and host a course before June 30, 2017 will earn two complimentary registrations for eight-hour online courses.
Objectives of Program: The APCO Institute's instructors work directly in their respective fields and strive to educate students about current industry issues and standards.

APCO requires 3 to 4 months advance notice to prepare and market the class.
Cost:
APCO Institute will provide the instructor, training materials and promotional course flyers to your agency at no cost.
People:
APCO requires at least 16 to 20 participants to register for the course.
